Java Developer

Portugal, Porto

Hello my name is Ricardo, I was born in a small town called Trofa in Porto.
It is impossible to forget my first computer that my parents gave me when I was 11 years old,
I was amazed about the variety of tasks it could perform, even though at the time I would
not imagine how fast the technology would evolve and reach the state where it is today.
I am passionate for what I do, I like to be always learning and evolving. I like to think that
what I do is improving someone’s life, that’s one of my main motivations. My real passion if
backend development, most recently I have been working as a Spring Boot micro-services
I have interests besides working, I love to play/watch sports, I consider myself a solar energy
enthusiast and I am building my own mini solar powered plant. I love playing with
hardware too, I made a project with raspberry pi and Android that send a notification to my
cell phone every time I receive mail, and by mail I mean physical letters! Maybe my next
technology to learn will be React Native, since it makes easier to develop multi-platform
mobile applications.

Employment History

  • Java Developer | Mindera

    January 2017 - Present

In Mindera, I work with Java 8 as a Spring Boot backend developer. We are
migrating our old legacy stack to micro-services architecture, almost 85% of
our website - is fully migrated. All our micro-services are running
on Google Cloud Platform, using their own products like: Datastore, PubSub
and storage to name a few. We have a implement development practices
with Scrum and we have a complete CI/CD pipeline with manual, automated
and performance tests, and continuous code quality with sonarqube, each of
these steps run before any deploy to a new environment. All micro-services
are containerized using Docker and orchestrated with Kubernetes. I am very
familiar with Gatling load testing tool, and it is used very often to build test
suits for each micro-service. It is important to note that all code repositories
    use git version control system.
