Project Outline

Session 1: Introduction and Setup

  • Session 1.1: Game basic description, screenshot analysis
  • Session 1.2: Checking Unity and other tools are installed

Session 2: In depth Game Description and Defining the prototype's scope.

We'll be checking some facts about the game, designing the rules, and talking about the scope.

  • Session 2.1: Rules enumeration
  • Session 2.2: Prototype Scope and Possibilities

Session 3: Coding the game.

During this session we will be creating the game with basic assets from the assetstore. It's important to note each session will be fixing its own bugs or previous session bugs.

  • Session 3.1: Starting the Unity Project and choosing assets from the asset store. Also generating some sounds to use later.
  • Session 3.2: Creating the UI and applying the transitions between them
  • Session 3.3: Creating the tilemap and filling it up with tiles.
  • Session 3.4: Player interactions with tilemap, scoring.
  • Session 3.5: Main mechanic.
  • Session 3.6: Bug fixes, final polish run.

Session 4: Exporting to APK, Recap

    Really should cut the time wasted where you track down bugs and didn't appreciate where you just shrug and go yea that bug is fine with too many blocks being generated. Also would have appreciated a explanation of how you would implement many of the key elements like the objective tiles or empty spaces in a level. I understand this is an intro tutorial but it seems to ignore key elements of the game it is trying to clone.
