This project will teach you all the tools you need to create quick and dirty prototypes in general as a game developer, but the examples will be in Unity. We'll be seeing some game theory first, game design, existing video game examples and then some code for our own prototypes in under three hours.


Best practices in creating quick prototypes in three hours or less


This tutorial series will be an in depth explanation of how to judge your game idea and turn it into a FAST and efficient proof of concept. You will receive advice and mindset tips along enough examples to work with for your prototypes.

When are the streaming sessions (streaming schedule)?

Project starts on Monday August 20th, 2PM PST and will take place daily at that time until we finish this project.

Project Outline

Session 1: Starting definitions and downloading Unity

  • Session 1.1: Useful initial definitions.

  • Session 1.2: Setting up Unity for our test prototypes.

Session 2: Thought process and Classic game examples

In this session we'll talk about the way your mind has to be set to cut and add features as required by a 3 hour prototype.

Session 3: Designing a Prototype

We'll design a demo prototype and then go through the steps we realized to design it.

Session 4: Coding a prototype in Unity

Getting hands on with a fast prototype!!
