Project Outline

Session 1: Definitions and Downloads

During Session 1 we'll be downloading the required tools, creating the Unity project, and defining what we're gonna make and how. We're also going to be checking out Visual Novels and Episode to analyze what they do and how they do it for us to emulate it on our prototype.

  • Session 1.1: Installing Tools.
  • Session 1.2: Defining Visual Novels and Checking Examples
  • Session 1.3: Scoping our project

Session 2: Story Creation

We'll examine how Inky works in depth, how to create Dialogues, branching stories, with very simple user interface for now. Also, we'll custom code some UI in and change the structure of the base Inky code.

  • Session 2.1: Creating our first dialogue.
  • Session 2.2: Nested elements, improving our Story.
  • Session 2.3: Basic Customization.

Session 3: Characters and Backgrounds

Now that we have an Inky dialogue structure, we'll use it to add different characters, change backgrounds and add test sounds to simulate voiceovers.

  • Session 3.1: Characters moving in and out.
  • Session 3.2: Background fade in and out.
  • Session 3.3: Sound Playback and Polish.

Session 4: Recording and Adding Voiceovers

We'll be recording different voice lines and adding them to the game. The idea is tying them down with lines selected in the story.
