Create a simple side-scrolling shoot em up the game and learn to monetize it through various methods such as banners, video ads between levels, rewarded video ads, and in-game purchases.
In this project, you will learn how to monetize a game in a variety of ways by creating a simple scrolling shoot-em-up game as an example. You will learn how to implement ads in various ways, and handle in-app purchases through google play.
What are the requirements?
- Knowledge of Affinity Photo, Photoshop, Krita, or some other software with 2D layers
- Basic understanding of Unity

The project outline explains what you will learn in each session
In this session, you will learn the pros and cons of implementing ads into free to play the game. You will also learn the types of advertising platforms you can use, what eCPM is, and how it relates to your returns on advertising. We will also briefly go over some common practices with regards to testing, and also how to choose the types of ads that are right for your game audience and how that may impact your eCPM.
