In this project we are going to create a simple phone book application in the C programming language. The main focus of this project is the list data structure which we will build step by step. Besides that we are going to create an command line interface for the user of our program and as a final goal, we are going to load and store our data on a .txt file.

In this project we are going to create a simple phone book application in the C programming language. The main focus of this project is the list data structure which we will build step by step. Besides that we are going to create an command line interface for the user of our program and as a final goal, we are going to load and store our data on a .txt file.

Requirements

  • You should be familiar with the basics of the C language
  • A C compiler ( preferably gcc )

Other

I will be developing the project in a Linux environment ( Ubuntu 18 ) using Visual Studio Code as my editor. I suggest that you follow me, but you can use any other operating system or editor you like.

Project Outline

Session 1: Setting up Visual studio code

  • Installation on a linux enviroments
  • Setup of some basic C extensions

Sessions 2: Application interface

In this section, we are going to create a command line interface where our user will be able to execute commands

Sessions 3: The list data structure

In this section, we are going to create a list data structure from scratch, which we are going to use to store our user data.

Session 4: Assembling

In this section, we will connect our list data structure with the application interface

Session 5: Data load / Data save

In this final section of the course, we are going to learn how to load our data from a .txt file and insert them into our list. Apart from that, we are also going to save our data to the .txt file before exiting our program.
