In this project we are going to be taking an older low polygon character and creating a new refined higher polygon mesh! This will be a fun blast in the past course showing us how we can create these AAA old assets quickly and in a more refined state.



This tutorial will cover all the details from base modeling and sculpting to texturing and shading. We will create a warcraft archer from a RTS game style and revamp it so it is up to date with modern gaming graphics! This project will be broken up into 7 sessions so we will carefully take our time on each step of recreating this asset.

Project Outline

Session 1: Base Mesh

  • Creating a base mesh within Blender
  • Going over reference over our low-poly style

Session 2: Sculpting base model

  • Creating base character within blender sculpt
  • Sculpting out the base forms of her

Session 3: Sculpting minor details

  • We will be going into blender sculpt to add more detail to our base mesh
  • Using advanced tactics to create detail in our mesh

Session 4: Sculpting major details

  • Taking our base sculpt into the details stage
  • Adding primary details to polish our mesh

Session 5: Armor sculpting

  • Getting in the last amount of details in our sculpt
  • Sculpting the characters armor

Session 6: Basic Retopology

  • Retopologizing the character
  • Creating a low resolution mesh

Session 7: Basic Texturing & Rigging

  • Going over basic block off texturing
  • Importing her into mixamo to rig
